You will need: a quiet private space, a small candle, a notebook, and pen.
Begin after sundown.
1. Find a quiet, private space where you can sit comfortably.
2. Quieten your mind. Sit peacefully for 5 minutes. Allow your mind to empty. Let any and cares or worries from the day to drift away. You may play soft relaxation music at this time.
3. Taking the necessary fire-safety precautions, light a small candle and send a thought to the Spirit world. Welcome your loved ones to step forward by saying 'I am here to greet you now'.
You may call upon one particular person or simply send a general thought out to all of your loved ones.
4. Sit in meditation for 10 minutes. Observe the thoughts that come up in your mind, feelings and images. You may begin to sense a presence at this time, as different loved ones come to you.
5. Once you sense or feel a connection, talk to your loved ones. They can hear you. You can send love or ask questions. Chat as if they were physically with you.
6. Write down any feelings, thoughts or new ideas you receive. These can often be messages, signs or gifts from Spirit.
7. Go back into meditation and allow your energy to settle. Close your connection to spirit world by saying 'Thank you, with love and light' and safely, extinguish the candle.
Repeat this ritual whenever you desire a connection to Spirit.
